What is Richard's Desserts Organization?

Richard's Desserts Organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood food insecurity. Our mission is to support students and families by helping address school meal debt and expanding access to nutrition education and cooking programs that build lifelong skills and confidence.

How does Richard's Desserts Organization help children?

We support children and communities through several key programs:

  • Assisting schools with student meal debt and food insecurity needs

  • Funding access to nutritious meals and food support initiatives

  • Sponsoring children to participate in cooking and nutrition education programs

  • Partnering with local organizations to expand food education opportunities

How do schools partner with Richard's Desserts Organization?

Schools interested in partnering with us can contact us directly through our website on our “Schools” tab.

Once we receive your request, our team will review the information and work with school administrators to determine the best way to support your students. We collaborate directly with schools to identify needs and provide assistance where funding allows.

How are programs and services funded?

Richard's Desserts Organization is funded entirely through donations from individuals like you, businesses, restaurants, bakeries, and community partners. We also raise funds through collaborative community initiatives with local food businesses and supporters who share our mission. These partnerships allow businesses to engage their customers in supporting childhood food insecurity while contributing to meaningful impact in their local area.

Do you partner with cooking schools or education programs?

Yes. We partner with local cooking schools, culinary instructors, chefs, and community programs to sponsor children in cooking and nutrition classes. These programs help children learn practical life skills, improve nutrition awareness, and build confidence in the kitchen.

Do donors receive anything for their contribution?

As a special thank-you, donors who make a one-time contribution of $50 or more may choose to receive a complimentary dessert by mail. If selected, donors will be asked to provide a shipping address during the donation process. Desserts are typically shipped within two weeks of the donation.

Because a dessert is provided in exchange for the donation, the tax-deductible portion of the contribution may be reduced by the fair market value of the dessert received. Donors will receive a receipt reflecting the deductible portion in accordance with IRS guidelines.

Dessert gifts are optional and may be declined at checkout. Recurring monthly donors do not receive monthly dessert gifts unless specifically offered as part of a special campaign.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Richard's Desserts Organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors will receive an official receipt for their records.

Do you operate in specific states only?

Richard’s Desserts Organization accepts donations from supporters across the United States and works to support schools nationwide. At this time, our restaurant, bakery, and business partnership programs are primarily focused in Virginia as we build and grow our local foundation, with the goal of expanding these partnerships nationally over time.
